Mouries Collective has hosted several gatherings of the Hologram project in collaboration with Maro Pantazidou since our initial introductory session with Cassie Thornton and Magdalena J. Härtelova in December 2024.
The Hologram is a peer-to-peer care protocol practiced from beds and couches around the world. One part social practice, one part technology of revolution, and one part feminist science fiction come to life, The Hologram is a lightweight, replicable, autonomous protocol for human cooperation which produces a rare form of de-institutionalized stability that comes from seeing and being seen, caring and being cared for and supporting while being supported, in the long term. By making this form of viral communal stability, we believe that hologrammers and their communities may be able to use their stability to produce new ways of living that don’t rely on or reproduce the toxic systems that are killing us.
The Hologram is a self-organized infrastructure, to take care of each other and to figure out capitalism. It’s got a little bit of social practice, a little bit of revolutionary technology and a little bit of feminist science fiction. The dream is for more and long-term stability and support for the people who practice it and their communities, and believes that this stability can help us create lifestyles that aren’t based on or reproduce the same toxic systems that are destroying us.
The workshop was an introduction to Hologram practices and its roots at Thessaloniki Social Medicine and the work of the Group for Another Medicine. We discussed collective health and had the opportunity to taste what it’s like to participate in a Hologram.
This workshop offered “incomers” new to The Hologram practice a chance to learn about the history and reasoning behind The Hologram. So what is The Hologram? What is it used for? We talked about care as revolutionary practice, and based on that discussion we practiced The Hologram.
