Mouries is a member of a Collective of Collectives, an initiative to connect the many independent artist-run and project spaces that operate in the Athenian neighbourhoods.
In recent years, Athens has seen an explosion in its artistic community. Beyond the large profit-oriented institutions and galleries, much of the artistic production and creation by new/emerging artists and communities is housed and developed in self managed/independent spaces. These collective-based spaces have created a large artistic community, and we support the coming together of all these communities in A Collective of Collectives.

A Collective of Collectives aims to strengthen all the self-funded initiatives that constitute the contemporary incubator of the underground, experimental, cultural scene in Athens.
By creating connections between art spaces across Athens, we seek to promote greater accessibility, visibility and collaboration in the local art community. We aim to empower art spaces, artists, curators to reach a wider audience, share resources and collaborate to enhance the city’s cultural landscape.

Through a comprehensive mapping and outreach initiative, we are creating a network of self-managed art spaces, promoting partnerships and joint programming that brings to the fore the diverse artistic voices of Athens. At the same time, by making it easier for people to discover, access and engage with these spaces, we hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the city’s art scene and provide a platform for creatives to thrive.

This project is more than just a catalogue of spaces or an advertising campaign. It’s a concerted effort to strengthen ties within the city. Mouries as part of the Athens’ artistic community and A Collective of Collectives, aims to enable each unique space to emerge, while cultivating a cohesive, inclusive and dynamic cultural and artistic community. In October of 2025 we will help to organize and take part in the 2nd festival of collectives in a continuing effort to focus on the developing art scene of Athens and get to know each other.
